Florence E. Mattson

PLATTSBURGH — Mrs. Florence E. Mattson, 95, of Lake Forest Drive in Plattsburgh, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh with family by her side. She was born in New York City on Dec. 26, 1917, the daughter of the late George and Florence (Eller) Keefe.

Florence enjoyed painting and golfing and was a member of the Barracks Ladies League. She was also the leader of the Lake Forest Art Committee. She was a trained opera singer. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Alicia and Al Armstrong, Virginia and Herb Crispell, all of Wilmington; her grandchildren, Julie and Pierre Croteau of Montreal, Quebec, and their two children; Greg Crispell of Hilton Head, S.C., Richard Cohen of San Francisco, Calif., Amy Fickenscher of Portland, Ore., and a nephew; John Wood of Sag Harbor, Long Island.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Quantico National Cemetery in Quantico, Va., at a later date next to her late husband of over 50 years, George Mattson.

Memorial donations may be offered to St. Helen's Ministry c/o Trinity Episcopal Church or the North Country Association for the Visually Impaired.
