Malone man killed in logging accident

BANGOR — A 47-year-old Malone man was killed in an Oct. 2 logging accident.

At about 11:19 a.m., Christopher A. Benware was driving a truck in a wooded lot off of Reynoldston Road in Bangor, dragging a log behind it.

The tree caught on a stump, causing the vehicle to flip over backward, State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman said.

Benware was trapped under the truck and sustained fatal injuries.

The Malone man enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking, woodworking and car restoration, according to his obituary.

“He was a true family man and attended all of his children’s sports events and family functions,” it reads. “He will be remembered by his children as the ‘Best Dad Ever.’”

Benware is survived by his wife, Jill; his children, Joseph, Lexie Marie and Sarah; and his father, Allen Benware, among other family members.
