Shannon Ryan poured in 38 points as the Eagles captured a back-and-forth 52-50 victory in the battle of the unbeatens.
“It was a nice battle,” Beekmantown coach Greg Waters said. “They’re a jump shooting, slashing team and we’re a low post team.
“It was a battled of styles and a good game right to the end.”
The Eagles carried a 27-23 lead into halftime, but the Patriots were able to battle back in the third quarter to pull within one-point heading into the fourth.
AuSable Valley eventually battled back to take a lead late in the fourth quarter.
“They took the lead on (Logan) Snow’s two foul shots (48-47) with two minutes to go,” Waters said. “Ryan made two low-post baskets to give us a lead and we sealed it with free throws.”
Beekmantown connected on five-of-seven free throws down the stretch, while Ryan scored 12 of her points in the final quarter.
Emily Anderson added nine points for the Eagles, including a couple big free throws in the fourth.
Snow tallied a season-high 20 points to lead the charge for the Patriots. Taylor Saltus and Meghan Strong each chipped in with seven points.
“It was a back-and-forth game,” Waters said. “It could have went either way.”
