Army Reserve Col. Keith P. Brelia has graduated from the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa., and earned a master’s degree in strategic studies.  The college is the Army’s senior educational institution. Brelia is the commander of the 4th Brigade, 98th Division at Amherst. The colonel has served in the military for 26 years. He is a resident of Shalimar, Fla. When not on active duty, Brelia is a program manager for Northrop Grumman. He is the son of Howard and Polly Brelia of Keeseville.

Air Force Airman Jordan E. Phaneuf graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Phaneuf is the son of Tina Patel and Kenneth Phaneuf, both of West Chazy, and is a 2011 graduate of Beekmantown High School.

Pfc. Mark A. Furst II , son of Judy Christon Furst of Cadyville and late Mark A.  Furst, graduated from U.S. Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., in November. He successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at Parris Island as one of 92 recruits in Training Platoon 3088. Following 10 days home on leave, he reported to Camp LeJeune for two months of Infantry Training Battalion.

Air Force Airman 1st Class Cody M. Brady graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Shane and Ann Brady of Constable and a 2010 graduate of Salmon River Central School, Fort Covington.

The following members of the New York Army National Guard were promoted in recognition of their capabilities for additional responsibility and leadership: Deona Warner of Saranac Lake, serving with the Joint Force Headquarters, to the rank of sergeant; Katie Welch of Plattsburgh, with the 222nd Chemical Company, to specialist; and Kenneth Wilson of St. Regis Falls, with Company D, 2-108th Infantry, to specialist.
