Jills' final roller derby contest of year scheduled

PLATTSBURGH — The local Lumber Jills roller-derby team will play the Rock Coast Rollers from Maine in the Pass the Gravy Bout on Saturday, Nov. 16.

This is the last contest of 2013.

It will be held at the Plattsburgh City Recreation Center on U.S. Oval. The doors open to the public at 5 p.m., with the first whistle at 6 p.m.

“The Lumber Jills are 9-2 and are ready to face the Rock Coast Rollers to end the season,” the team said in a news release.

“The last bout in October, facing Twin City Riot from Vermont, was a tough bout. The Lumber Jills started out behind in the first half but came back to add another win under their belt in the second half.”

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the North Country Food Co-Op and the Koffee Kat, both in Plattsburgh, or by visiting http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/319314.

The cost for advance tickets is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 through 12, with kids ages 5 and younger free.

General admission tickets cost $12 at the door on the day of the event.

The North Country Lumber Jills will be providing pizza and other snacks and beverages. Olive Ridley’s will be in charge of the beer garden at the event and will host the after party.
