---- — Softball doubleheader at RPI moved to Thursday
PLATTSBURGH — Tuesday’s non-conference softball doubleheader at RPI was postponed due to frigid weather throughout the region. Tuesday’s games were originally set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Plattsburgh State softball team (9-7) will now play a pair of games at RPI (10-4) Thursday. Game one is set for 3 p.m. with game two to follow.
Following Thursday’s doubleheader, the Cardinals will return to conference play this weekend with doubleheaders at Oneonta and New Paltz.
Malone softball league meeting April 4
MALONE — The Malone AMVETS Gentlemens Slow Pitch Softball League will be having an organizational meeting on Thursday at the AMVETS clubhouse on the Whippleville Road in Malone starting at 7 p.m. Any team wishing wishing to have a team this year must have a representative.
Willsboro fish, game meeting scheduled
WILLSBORO — The Willsboro Fish and Game Club will sponsor an informational meeting of the New York State S.A.F.E. Act. NCCS schedules spring athletic meeting
CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton spring athletics parent and athlete meeting will be held Tuesday April 9th at 5:30 p.m. in the High School gymnasium. All Modified, JV, and Varsity level athletes that are participating on a spring athletic team are to attend with their parent or guardian.
Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club to host Match 10 finals
PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Rod & Gun Club will host the Match 10 finals for the Vermont Winter Postal League. The match will take place over the weekend of April 6/7. Eighty competitors from the thirteen league teams will finish up the season. Going into match 10, the Plattsburgh Rough Riders are in second place behind Whitehall and in front of Jamestown. Correction to Trout Unlimited announcement
PLATTSBURGH — Tuesday’s Sports Short announcing the Trout Unlimited meeting has the wrong date for Mickey Maynard’s talk. The correct date is Tuesday, April 9, not April 16.
North Country Cancer Fund Golf Tournament
PORT KENT — The North Country Cancer Fund will hold its annual Golf Tournament May 3 at Harmony Golf Course in Port Kent. All proceeds will benefit the North Country Cancer Fund.
The shotgun start is slated to start at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $70 for non-members and $55 for members.
The event includes golf, cart, BBQ after play and refreshments on the course.
For those that play before April 10, the cost will be $60 for non-members and $45 for members.

Third Annual Jenkins Mountain Scramble Trial Run
BRIGHTON — The Third Annual Jenkins Mountain Scramble Trial Run will be held at the Paul Smith’s College VIC Saturday, May 25.
There are two race distances: A 13.1 mile strenuous half-marathon that includes a climb to the summit of Jenkins Mountain and a shorter run of about six miles that does not include the Jenkins Mountain climb.

Free strength training clinic for ages 13-18
PLATTSBURGH — A free strength training clinic to teach young athletes how to lift weights safely and effectively will be held at the wellness center at PARC Saturday, April 13 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The clinic will cover proper technique for the front squat, dead lift and upper body presses and rows.
2013 Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival
SCHROON LAKE — The 17th Annual Adirondack Marathon Distance Festival returns to Schroon Lake, on the weekend of September 21 and 22.

Pace Bears will lend their expertise to help marathon runners cross the finish line at their goal pace. Participants are encouraged to look for the Pace Bears at the start line and join the appropriate group.
