Grant funds pay for Internet installations

NICHOLVILLE — Slic Network Solutions, a local provider of high-speed Internet, has constructed fiber-optic cabling throughout many rural parts of western Franklin County, funded in part by economic stimulus funds awarded by the US Rural Utility Service.

The $4.3 million grant was used to construct fiber to pre-specified areas and to offset customer-installation fees.

For more information about the free installations, call (877) SLIC-COM or (877) 754-2266 and press Option 1.

Slic provides high-speed Internet, phone and television services over the fiber-optic network.

While the network has capacity for hundreds of more customers, it is estimated that funding is available to cover the installation fees of only several dozen more new installations.
