---- — SARANAC LAKE — The Board of the Adirondack Carousel has accepted the resignation of Paula Hameline as its executive director, effective Dec. 31.
“We understand this was a difficult decision for Paula, but she has long expressed a desire to work in her husband Paul’s growing business and spend more time with her family,” Carousel Board Chair Marge Glowa said in a news release.
“We are very grateful for all Paula has accomplished in the carousel’s first year and a half of operation and wish her and her family all the best.”
The Carousel Board is in the process of conducting a search for a new executive director.
Until that position is filled, board member Pam Martin has agreed to serve as interim director. A recently retired school principal, Martin is known in the Tri-Lakes area for her commitment to education and the community.
“I love what the carousel has planned over the next few months and look forward to being part of all the special programs and activities that are being offered this holiday season and in the new year,” she said in a statement.
The carousel, which features hand-carved versions of Adirondack wildlife as its seats, will be open as usual during the winter from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends, as well as for any parties or other special events that are scheduled.
The carousel will also be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day from Dec. 26 through 31.
