TODAY

Winter Break Kids Workshop. 1 to 3 p.m., Winkel Sculpture Court, Myers Fine Arts Building, SUNY Plattsburgh. For families. Free. Call 564-2498 to register.

Wings Wednesday. Noon, The Wild Center, 45 Museum Drive, Tupper Lake. Meet live Adirondack birds and learn about their winter survival strategies. Adults (15 through 64), $17; youth (4 through 14), $10; seniors, (65-plus); 3 and younger and members, free.

THURSDAY

February Break Winter Explorers. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Hiking, trapping and tracking and building snow forts. Adirondack Interpretive Center, 5922 State Route 28N, Newcomb.

Winter Homes. Noon, The Wild Center, 45 Museum Drive, Tupper Lake. Discover how animals get cozy in winter weather. At 1 p.m., join the skunks to see how they survive tough Adirondack winters. Adults (15 through 64), $17; youth (4 through 14), $10; seniors, (65-plus); 3 and younger and members, free.

Hearty Kids Organ Wise Guys. 9 to 11 a.m., Crete Civic Center. Activities, games to teach kids ages 8 to 12 how their body works and how to keep their organs in healthy shape. Healthy snack. Open to Clinton County residents. Co-sponsored by the Clinton County Youth Bureau and City of Plattsburgh Recreation Department. Pre-register at 565-4750.

FRIDAY

Family Ice Skating. 12:15 to 1:15 p.m., SUNY Plattsburgh Field House. Free ice time, open to all Clinton County residents. Skate rentals will be available for $2 a pair. Co-sponsored by Plattsburgh Pediatrics.

Winter Owl Prowl. 7:30 p.m., Visitors Interpretive Center, 8023 Route 30, Paul Smiths. Led by Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister, to discuss owl history, learn some call notes and listen for them. Preregister at 327-6241 or email bmcdonnell@paulsmiths.edu.

All-you-can-eat Spaghetti Dinner. 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Peru Fire Department, 752 Bear Swamp Road. $8 per person.

Adirondack Survivor with History Out of the Box. 11 a.m. to noon, Clinton County Historical Association, 98 Ohio Ave., Plattsburgh. Learn how early trappers and explorers survived the harsh winter climate of the Adirondacks. Participants will build a fire, get some cooking tips and learn how to build a shelter with Jan McCormick.

Mid-Winter Walk with Peter O’Shea. 1 p.m., Adirondack Interpretive Center, 5922 State Route 28N, Newcomb. Snowshoes available.

Play Gym. 9:30 a.m. to noon, The Grange, 1610 Route 22 at Whallons Bay Road, Whallonsburg. Children birth through 5 along with a caregiver join Lakeside School teacher Gregg V for a morning of energetic and fun play.

SUNDAY

Maple Day. 9 a.m., The Wild Center, 45 Museum Drive, Tupper Lake. The Adirondack Museum will bring a collection of regional maple sugaring artifacts and stories through photographs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Local residents may register for the 9 a.m. free pancake breakfast and sugaring workshop at www.wildcenter.org/calendar.

Snowball Zumba Party. Noon and 2 p.m., JC Penney Court, Champlain Centre mall, Smithfield Boulevard, Plattsburgh. For the whole family. Prizes at both sessions. Free.
