Alzheimer's group to gather Wednesday in Malone

MALONE -- The Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center offers a monthly support group for caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia. The next meeting is from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Third Age Adult Day Center, 24 Fourth St., Suite 7, Malone (on the Alice Hyde Medical Center campus). LaPorte to speak at dementia workshop

ELIZABETHTOWN -- The Alzheimer's Disease Assistance Center will hold a free educational workshop on Wednesday, July 9, from noon to 1 p.m. in the conference room at Horace Nye Nursing Home, Park Street, Elizabethtown. Any person providing care to an individual with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia is invited to attend. Busy Bee's to celebrate summer with luau

BEEKMANTOWN -- The Beekmantown Busy Bee's Senior Club will not have a July meeting. A luau picnic will be held Thursday, July 10, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on the Spellman Road in Beekmantown. There will be games and social hour starting at 2:30 p.m. with dinner at 5:30. Race Day to raise funds for Senior Council

PLATTSBURGH -- The Senior Citizens Council Fundraising Committee has dreamed up a new fundraiser -- Senior & Family Race Day is set for Saturday, Aug. 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Airborne Raceway, 70 Broderick Road, Plattsburgh. The event, open to the public, will include games and activities for all ages, a silent auction, and race-car rides for the adults and children for $10 each. Entertainment will be provided by the Castaways from noon to 2 p.m., and the concession stand will be open. There will be many vendors there to educate the community on the senior services available and the Classic Cruisers will show off their cars in the evening. Cost will be $6 for adults and $4 for kids and seniors. Advance tickets are available at a discount, $5 for adults and $3 for kids and seniors, at the following locations: Senior Citizens Council, 5139 North Catherine St., Plattsburgh, and Meadowbrook Healthcare, 154 Prospect Ave., Plattsburgh.
