NCCS knocks off Peru in softball

CHAMPLAIN -- Chelsea Barcomb tossed a three-hitter and Northeastern Clinton defeated Peru, 4-1, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference girls' softball Tuesday.
Barcomb struck out five, did not walk anyone and allowed singles to Megan Breton, Keely Dew and Rachel Collier.
Ashley Lamberton had a big day at the plate for the Cougars by going three-for-three with a RBI. Ayisha Loya added two hits and a RBI.
The game was scoreless until NCCS (4-3) took the lead for good off losing pitcher Kelly Kezar with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

PLATTSBURGH -- The Knights scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back in winning their first game of the season.
Ariel Masten, Gretchen Raville, Dana Relation, winning pitcher Kelsey Doorey and Sarah Willette all accounted for two hits each for Seton Catholic.
Jenna DeMarco led the Red Storm with two hits and losing pitcher Lauren Burgess added a double.

TICONDEROGA -- The Sentinels pounded out 18 hits as they blanked the Vikings
Ticonderoga's Anna Benson and Julie Thompson both went 4-for-4 on the day, and Samantha Cawley and Morgan Jordan went 3-for-4. Maranda Wells drove in five runs and Benson added four RBI.
Katie Karkoski pitched six innings, striking out 10 and allowing just two hits. Kaylee Sprague pitched the complete game for Moriah, striking out four in the loss.
