Eagles fly high in CVAC track & field
SARANAC LAKE -- Brian Drollette broke a 19-year-old school record and Rosi Cummings turned in a stellar performance in the middle distances Tuesday to lead Beekmantown to a resounding sweep of Saranac Lake in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference track & field.
Drollette won the 100-meter dash in 10.9 seconds to better the Beekmantown mark of 11.0 set by Brent Deshaies in 1989.
Teammate Jeff Stitt also had a big day with four firsts, including the triple and high jumps. Brendan Courneene, Eric LaValley, Josh Garren and Drollette all were triple winners for the Eagles.
Cummings won the 400 and 800 and anchored the 1,600-meter relay to victory to lead the Beekmantown girls. Bailey Weightman, Lita Fountain, Ikeyanna Hamlin and Korinne Stay were double winners.
Corinne Becker swept the dashes for Saranac Lake and Hannah Sporn won the long jump.
