Chamber to lobby local issues in D.C.

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce will chair the annual New York Day in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

That includes chamber President and CEO Garry Douglas serving as master of ceremonies at a congressional breakfast in the caucus room at the U.S. Senate.

Sen. Charles Schumer, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and a number of members of the House of Representatives are expected to attend.

The North Country delegation will include representatives from the Quebec government, Montreal Board of Trade, Bombardier Transportation, Nova Bus/Volvo, Trudeau Institute, CVPH Medical Center, Strand Performing Arts Center, CBN Connect Broadband Project, the Adirondack North Country Association and the Saranac Lake Chamber of Commerce.

The delegation will have direct meetings with Schumer, Gillibrand, Rep. John McHugh and others.

The agenda includes the upcoming federal transportation authorization bill, U.S.-Canadian business and priority federal funding requests.
