Police Log: Feb. 5, 2013


SARANAC LAKE — One man was injured in a two-car accident Monday morning.

Saranac Lake Police said Justin C. Atkins was driving his 2004 Ford van on Bloomingdale Avenue at 9:30 a.m. when he struck the 2005 Honda he was following that was being driving by Michael J. Ducatt.

Police said Ducatt complained of neck pain and was transported to AMC Saranac Lake by a private vehicle.

Atkins was ticketed for following too closely.

No additional information was available Monday evening.


CROWN POINT   A Plattsburgh man faces a charge of felony grand larceny.

Arthur A. Pelkey, 35, was picked up by Lewis-based State Police at his Couch Street residence in relation to an alleged fuel-oil scam. Pelkey, an employee of Avery Energy of Crown Point, was arraigned in the Town of Moriah Court. He was released on $1,500 cash bail.

CROWN POINT  — A Crown Point man is charged with felony driving while intoxicated.

Kenneth C. Woods, 53, had a previous conviction within 10 years, according to Lewis-based New York State Police.

He was arrested as a result of a one-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. Jan. 31, in Crown Point. 

State Police found the 2003 Ford pickup, without occupants, off the roadway. Woods was arraigned in the Town of Moriah Court.

PLATTSBURGH — A West Chazy man was arrested by Clinton County Sheriffs Friday for allegedly violating his probation.

Christopher R. Winterbottom, 33, was arrested and charged with violation of probation, Clinton County Sheriffs said. Winterbottom had been on probation for fourth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.

Winterbottom was arraigned in Clinton County Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with felony promoting prison contraband Sunday evening after Clinton County Sheriffs officers found controlled substances “within his body” upon his arrival into Clinton County Jail.

Shawn L. Gushlaw, 35, was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree promoting prison contraband, both of which are misdemeanors, the Sheriffs Office said.

Gushlaw was arraigned in Town of Plattsburgh Court and remanded to Clinton County Jail without bail.
