---- — PLATTSBURGH — The 2013 road-construction season is ongoing.
Crews ask that motorists use caution when driving through work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding.
Here’s a look at the major projects around Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties:
Route 11, Mooers: Crews are repairing a culvert Mondays through Thursdays near Forest Road. Traffic is controlled by a temporary traffic signal.
Narrows Road, Ellenburg: Crews are rehabilitating the Narrows Road Bridge. During construction, the road will be closed and a detour will be in place. Work is expected to be completed by Labor Day.
Lake Shore Road, Chazy: Crews are rehabilitating the bridge over the Little Chazy River immediately south of Lapointe Road. The road is closed, and a detour is in place. Work is expected to be completed in November.
Route 11, Altona: Traffic is controlled by a temporary traffic signal while crews work on culvert repairs on the bridge between the Mooers/Altona line and County Route 16. Work is expected to take place Monday through Thursday each week until the end of July.
Route 190, Altona: Crews are repairing washout damage from Devil’s Den Road to Duquette Road. The road is reduced to one lane. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.
Interstate 87, Plattsburgh: The northbound and southbound lanes have been reduced to one lane from Route 3 to Exit 39. The work-zone speed is 45 mph. There is a signed detour for motorists trying to use the Exit 38 northbound on-ramp, which is closed. There are lane restrictions of 16 feet in the southbound lane and 18 feet in the northbound lane. One-lane traffic will remain until early October.
Route 22, Plattsburgh: Crews are reconstructing the overpass over Interstate 87. There are some daily lane closures. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.
CITY OF PLATTSBURGH
Boynton Avenue: Crews are finishing the reconstruction project between Lynde Street and Woodland Drive. Striping operations are expected to take place Wednesday, weather permitting. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Highlands Road, Chesterfield: Crews are repairing flood damage. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Route 9, Chesterfield: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions at the Chesterfield/Lewis line and is controlled by a temporary signal.
Route 86, Wilmington: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions from the Jay/Wilmington line to Route 431 until further notice. Crews are repairing the bridge over the Ausable River a half-mile north of Fox Farm Road. Traffic is controlled by a temporary signal.
Route 22, Willsboro: Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction between the Willsboro/Essex line and the Chesterfield/Willsboro line. Crews are working near Reber Road and the railroad overpass in that area.
Interstate 87, Town of Chesterfield: Northbound traffic has been reduced to one lane from Exit 32 to the AuSable/Chesterfield line. Motorists should expect lane closures in both the northbound and southbound lanes between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Work is expected to be complete in late November.
Route 22, Westport: Traffic has been reduced to a single lane in alternating directions from the Essex/Westport line to the Westport/Moriah line. The work, with completion expected in late November, is taking place between Wadhams and County Route 8. Traffic is controlled by a temporary signal.
Dugway Road, Moriah: Crews are paving. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Trout Brook Road, Minerva: Crews are performing ditching operations in preparation for a paving project. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Countywide road construction: Crews are performing general maintenance throughout the county. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Water Street, Fort Covington: A long-term water-main project has begun. Water Street has been narrowed to two lanes northbound and one lane southbound between John and Beekman streets. Work will continue until next spring.
Town of Constable: Crews are expected to perform paving operations in the town. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers as necessary on roads where work is occurring.
Route 95, Moira: Crews are expected to perform pavement patching beginning mid-week. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers as necessary. Work is expected to take two to three days to complete.
Cemetery Road, Chateaugay: Crews are paving the road. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.
Jewitt Road, Westville: Crews are working on the bridge just off Route 37. Motorists should follow a signed detour.
