Close call for Huskies in Peru




Chazy 6, E’town-Lewis 4

CHAZY — The Eagles (3-1, 3-1) scored four runs in the first inning and held off the Lions.

Josh Peete struck out eight, walked four and allowed three hits in going the first four innings for the pitching win. Kyle Bisonette shut out E’town-Lewis over the final three innings for the save as he fanned five, did not walk anyone and surrendered two hits.

Cody Gowdy went the distance in taking the loss. Gowdy, who did not allow a hit from the third inning on, struck out nine, walked six and allowed four hits.

Hayden Guay, Craig Botten, Bisonette and Nathan Reynolds had the lone hits for the Eagles, with Reynolds getting a two-run double in the first inning. Peete added a RBI on a sacrifice fly in the first.

Gowdy accounted for three of the five E’town-Lewis hits, with one being a double. Tyler Hart and Jerry Mitchell added singles.

Minerva/Newcomb 20, Keene 5

KEENE — Alex Ruzbacki belted three doubles as the Mountaineers rolled to a win over the Beavers.

Jorge Bertomeau added two hits, with a triple, for Minerva/Newcomb. Tyler Clickner, Bryton Chikukwa and Justin Viele all finished with two hits. Viele delivered a double.

Andrew Sponable picked up the pitching victory.

Colton Venner led the way for Keene with a triple. Brandon Dumas, who took the loss, had two hits, with a double.
