PLATTSBURGH — With summer vacation coming to a close, students, teachers and parents are gearing up for another busy school year.
Most districts across the region are kicking off the academic year with staff development days before students officially arrive for class in early September.
Here’s a roundup of when staff and students start the new year at schools around the North Country:
Superintendent’s days are scheduled at AuSable Valley Central School on Sept. 3 and 4, with classes starting Sept. 5.
Superintendent’s days are set for staff on Sept. 3 and 4 at Beekmantown Central School, with an open house for grades one through five on Sept. 4. First day of classes is Sept. 5.
Brushton-Moira Central School holds superintendent’s days for staff on Sept. 3 and 4, with classes starting Sept. 5. Grades kindergarten through six have early dismissal that day.
Teachers return to Chazy Central Rural School on Sept. 3, with Sept. 5 the first day for students.
Crown Point Central School’s staff development days are Sept. 3 and 4, with the first day of classes on Sept. 5.
Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School will start the school year with staff development days Sept. 3 and 4. Classes will begin Sept. 5.
Holy Family School in Malone’s staff returns Sept. 4, with the first day for students set for Sept. 5.
Staff will return for superintendent’s days Sept. 3 and 4 at Keene Central School, with back-to-school orientation on Sept. 3. Classes begin Sept. 5.
Lake Placid Central School will hold an elementary open house Sept. 3, when teachers return. Classes begin Sept. 5.
Malone Central School staff is expected back for superintendent’s days on Sept. 4 and 5. Students will return to class Sept. 6.
Moriah Central School teachers will be back Sept. 3 and welcome students back on Sept. 5.
Newcomb Central School kicks off the new school year with international-student training on Aug. 26 and 27, staff development days on Aug. 27 and 28 and a superintendent’s day on Aug. 29. All staff and school families are invited to a party from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 2, Labor Day, at the town beach. The first day of classes is Sept. 3.
Teachers will return to Northern Adirondack Central School on Sept. 3, with students to start Sept. 5.
Faculty at Northern Lights School returned Aug. 26. Orientation for preschool and kindergarten students and parents will be held Sept. 4. Classes begin Sept. 5.
Teachers at Northeastern Clinton Central School start Sept. 3, with the first day of classes on Sept. 4.
Peru Central School will open doors for teachers Sept. 3, with students returning Sept. 4.
Staff development days will be held at Plattsburgh City School District on Sept. 3 and 4. Orientation for new Middle School students will be held Sept. 4. Opening day for students is Sept. 5. Bailey Avenue kindergarten will not have full class days until Sept. 10.
St. Mary’s School in Ticonderoga will welcome faculty back Sept. 3 and 4. An open house will be held Sept. 4, with classes starting Sept. 5.
St. Agnes School in Lake Placid welcomed back staff on Aug. 23. All-day preschool starts Sept. 3, grades kindergarten through third begin Sept. 5, and half-day preschool kicks off Sept. 9.
ST. REGIS FALLS
St. Regis Falls Central School staff will report on Sept. 3 and 4, with classes for students starting Sept. 5.
Superintendent’s days will be held for staff at Salmon River Central School on Sept. 3 and 4. Students will head to class Sept. 5.
Staff returns to Saranac Central School on Sept. 3, with an open house at Saranac Elementary set for Sept. 4. The first day for students is Sept. 5.
Saranac Lake Central School teachers will be back Sept. 3 and 4. There will be an open house for Bloomingdale kindergarten Sept. 3. All students start the new school year on Sept. 5.
Staff will return to Schroon Lake Central Sept. 3, with students to follow Sept. 4.
Staff returns to Seton Academy in Plattsburgh on Sept. 3, when Meet the Teachers Night takes place from 5 to 6 p.m. Students return Sept. 4.
