SARANAC — Robert R. LeClair, 84, of Lamkins Rd., died Saturday August 17, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center.
He was born in Ellenburg Depot, NY on March 21, 1929 the son of Rymond and Florence (Burgoyne) LeClair.
Robert was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1949 to 1952. He was discharged as Staff Sergeant.
He was a correction officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora for 32 years, retiring as a Sergeant in 1985.
Robert owned Bob and Ed's TV and Appliances with his partner and long time friend, Edward Liberty, for several years.
He was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Redford and a member of the American Legion Post # 1618 in Saranac since 1952. He served as Saranac Town Councilman for four years and Town Assessor for ten years and also was Republican Chairman in the Town of Saranac for several years.
Survivors include his wife Margaret (Keysor) LeClair of Saranac; a daughter, Maxine Brooks and her husband Larry of Lagrangeville, N.Y.; a daughter-in-law, Sherry LeClair of Malone, N.Y.; two step-daughters, Barbara LeDuc and her husband Ray of Saranac and Margie Malecek and her husband Ted of Elizabethtown, Ky.; five grandchildren, Larry and Aaron Brooks, Josh and Lara Brooks, Kris Piere, Ciara LeClair and Robert LeClair III; five step grandchildren, Ray Jr. and Paulette LeDuc, Scott LeDuc and his fianc^ Camren Savage, Jeannine and Matt Yanulavich, Alex Larsen and his fianc^ Kendra Nelson and Katie Wise and her fianc^ Baine Campbell; three great-grandchildren, Collin, Brayden, Mila Brooks and one on the way; 10 step great-grandchildren, Jacob, Morgan, Marissa, Ben, Samara, Mason, Lexi, Paige, Reese and Levi; two sisters, Lucille Carter and Janet Uhler of Plattsburgh; a sister-in-law, Janet Gauthier and her daughter, Robin Liberty and her husband Bobby of Vorheesville, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Florence Wright of Saranac; brothers-in-law, Jared Keysor and his wife Betty of Dannemora, Francis Keysor and his wife Bonnie and Harold Keysor and his wife Sandra all of Saranac, and George Keysor and his wife Nadine of S.C.; and many nieces and nephews who where all very special to their Uncle Bob.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Butchino) LeClair in 2002; one son, Robert LeClair Jr.; a brother, Donald LeClair; and two sisters, Anna (Brassard) Gromoski and Marie Rascoe.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Assumption in Redford. Burial will follow in Assumption of Mary Cemetery. After services a reception will be held at the American Legion Post #1618.
