Allen delivers walk-off winner for Peru against Ticonderoga

PERU — One week ago, Tessa Allen was playing on the JV level for the Peru softball program.

After being called up by coach Larry Ewald, Allen made her new role on the varsity squad known with an exclamation point Monday.

Allen delivered a two-out, walk-off single, helping the Indians upset Ticonderoga in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference play, 7-6.

Down 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Sam Fletcher led off with a single and scored on a Brittany Miner triple with one out. Then, Karly Dynko’s infield single scored Miner for the tying run.

Madison Flynn followed with a single. After a force out, Allen’s late-game heroics solidified the victory.

Kelly Neenan added a double for Peru in the win. Miner smashed a home run before hitting the triple in the seventh frame.

Maura Jebb and Haleigh Wright paced the Sentinels with three hits each in the setback.
