Helen Margaret Lyons

PLATTSBURGH — Helen Margaret Lyons, 75, of Chenango Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, July 20, 2013, at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh.

Helen was born in the town of Massena, June 12, 1938. She was the daughter of Clifford and Evelyn St. Louis. Helen married the love of her life, Richard Lyons, on June 8, 1957.

Helen started at CVPH in 1967 as a Nurses Aide before attending and graduating from OLVA Secretarial School. Helen then worked as a switchboard operator and continued her employment at CVPH for 40 years. Nothing brought more joy to Helen's life then spending time with her family; whether it was gardening with her son, enjoying a movie, or hosting holiday gatherings. Helen enjoyed yard sales, craft shows, word searches, and family vacations. Helen was best known for her enormous heart, infinite generosity and understanding.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Richard Lyons of 56 years; her sister, Betty Debin of Norfolk; her children, Deborah Lyons of Plattsburgh, Pam Sayward and her husband David Sayward of Willsboro, Penny Calkins and her husband Jeff Calkins of Peru, and Timothy Lyons of Plattsburgh; her grandchildren, David Lyons and his companion Michele Esquilin, Jennifer Ashline, Chad Dubray, Travis Sayward and his wife Alexis Sayward, Dustin Sayward and his wife Hannah Sayward, Tara Sayward and her boyfriend Nate Donner, Katie Blake and her husband Michael Blake, Michelle Martin and her husband Gregory Martin, Andrew Witt and Tabitha Witt; Her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Angelina, Maria, Gabriele, Allison, Wyatt, Taylor, Damien, Cameron, Conner, and Nathan.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford and Evelyn; a son, David Lyons; her two brothers, Robert St. Louis and Clifford St. Louis; and her brother-in-law, Paul Debien.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, with a service immediately following at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
