William "Bill" Charles Mauran

---- — SOUTH GLENS FALLS — William "Bill" C. Mauran, 56, of South Glens Falls was called to heaven on Saturday, July 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family after a battle with cancer.

He was born to the late Alfred and Merceanna (Pliscofsky) Mauran, Dec. 1, 1956, in Ticonderoga. Bill grew up in Mineville and graduated from Moriah Central School in 1974. Bill served in the Army and was a US Army Veteran.

He worked as a Correction Officer at Washington Correction Facility, for the New York State Comptroller, and the New York State Department of Labor until he became ill. He also preferred to be called "Wonky" or "Billium" by his friends and family. Bill dedicated his life to entertaining and making his friends and family laugh. Cars and music were a large part of Bill's life. He incorporated it in his everyday life whether it be singing, playing it, or in praise and worship.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Alfred, Anthony, Lenorad and Jeffery Mauran; his sister, Gloria.

Bill is survived by his son, William Hanchett of Moriah; sisters, Kathy (Sam) Ezzo of South Glens Falls, Doreen (Peter) Godin of Queensbury, Carol (Randy) Patnode of Crown Point; brothers, Douglas (Michelle) Mauran of Moriah, Brian Mauran of Moriah, Tracy (Nancy) Mauran of Gansevoort, Craig Mauran of South Glens Falls, and Mark and companion (April) of Ticonderoga. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Harland Funeral Home, 4279 Main St., Port Henry, NY, 12974. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. officiated by Pastor Brett Seals at Harland Funeral Home. A gathering will follow at the Moriah Firehouse at 630 Tarbell Hill Road, Moriah.
