Bronx woman faces drug charges in Plattsburgh.

PLATTSBURGH — Plattsburgh City Police arrested a woman wanted in the Bronx on a charge of attempted murder.

Ruth C. Santa, 28, of the Bronx was taken into custody at the Rip Van Winkle Motel, State Route 314, in Plattsburgh.

Police said that Santa was found to be in possession of 49 bags of cocaine and 144 bags of heroin.

She is wanted on a parole warrant from the Bronx for second-degree attempted murder.

City Police said that the arrest took place as a result of the warrant and due to information that Santa was selling drugs.

She was indicted by a Clinton County grand jury, charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felonies.

Santa was arraigned in front of Judge Patrick McGill and sent to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $50,000 or $100,000 bond.

She remained in jail Monday night. The County Jail had no court date yet for her.

Last summer, Santa was arrested in Malone and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny.

On Aug. 3, she had allegedly taken a 40-inch LCD television from Walmart in Malone without paying for it. Malone-based State Police said that she loaded the television into a vehicle occupied by Danielle Miller, 23, of West Chazy and Kimberly Laroe, 29, of Plattsburgh.

A list of items of stolen items, as well as the items themselves, including the television, were found in Laroe’s possession, police said. The stolen goods were returned to the store.

Santa gave a false name at the time, calling herself Maria Santiago, police said.

As a result of the arrest in Malone, Santa, Miller and Laroe were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny of property valued at more than $1,000, a felony. They were arraigned in Malone Town Court and sent to Franklin County Jail, with bail set at $10,000 or $20,000 bond.
