Edna E. Whyman


---- — STANDISH — Edna E. Whyman, 80, of Standish, N.Y. passed away Friday, April 5th, at her home in the loving care of her family and hospice. She was born March 17, 1933.

Edna worked as a cook for Marriott Corp. for 25 years. Her greatest joy was her family of seven children, 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She also enjoyed talking to her granddaughter, Acacia, on the phone and listening to her sing lullabies "The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow" and "The Teddy Lullaby". Also reading, planting flowers, watching the birds, taking care of orphaned animals, and watching Judge Judy without being interrupted.

Survivors include siblings, Lillian Rabideau of Standish, Mike Furnia of Au Sable Forks; sisters-in-law, Eunice Founier, Birdie Furnia, Harriet Fumia, Shirley Furnia and Gracelyn Cayea. Children include Donna and Thomas Fads, Bobby and Kathy Whyman, Carolyn Furnia, Michael Whyman, Kevin and Denise Whyman, Elaine and Luis Peralta. Grandchildren include Acacia, Michael & Jeanne, Christopher, Kaylin & Allen, Allison & Zeb, Shannon & Odin, Daniel, Melissa and Monica. Great-Grandchildren include Lydia, Julian, Sebastian, Isabella, Railyn, and family friend, Jack LaDuke.

Predeceased by her parents, George & Albina Furnia; brothers, Edmond, Adrian, Roland, Donald and Norman. Also William Whyman Jr., Robert Kosehak, Billy Whyman, and Sara Pekrul.

A Christian mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Friday April 12th, at St. Michael's church in Standish with Father Ted Crosby officiating.

Donations in her memory can be made to Plattsburgh Animal Shelter.

There will be a family gathering after the service at her home in Standish.

The Thwaits-Zaumetzer Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
