Mary Rita Cayea

LYON MOUNTAIN — Mary Rita Cayea, 68, of Lyon Mountain died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh, NY.

Born on April 2, 1945 in Lyon Mountain, N.Y. she was the daughter of Howard and Bernice (LaFlesh) LaPoint.

She was married to John H. Cayea on July 30, 1966 in Lyon Mountain, N.Y. by Rev. Latramore. He predeceased her on Dec. 6, 2007.

Mrs. Cayea attended school in Ellenburg. She was employed ARPAK Plastic, Plattsburgh for 15 years. She was a member of the Lyon Mountain Memorial Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary of the Woodward Post #1623. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, movies and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by a daughter & son-in-law, Buffy and Steve Lawrence of Cadyville; a granddaughter, Tiffany Ann Lawrence of Cadyville; four sisters, Jeannette Dubrey of Lyon Mountain, Sally Kline and her companion Bob Lacey of Lyon Mountain, Diane Shutts and her husband Bruce of Merrill, Genevieve Mailloux and her husband John of Brainardsville; three brothers, Tommy LaPoint and his wife Peggy of Chazy Lake, Francis LaPoint and his wife Jackie of Merrill, Albert LaPoint and his companion Betty Charland of Merrill; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Floyd and Chris Cayea of Cadyville, Fredrick and Diane Cayea of Lyon Mountain, Donald Cayea and his companion Lori LaBombard of Lyon Mountain, Anthony and Alice Cayea of Lyon Mountain, Patrick Cayea and his companion Rhonda Key of Lyon Mountain, Jeannette Miller of Dannemora, Arlean Johnson of Lyon Mountain, Jeanne and Norman LaMare of Lyon Mountain, Mary Louise and Timothy Murtha of Fla., Joan Cayea of Syracuse, Dee Dee Cayea of Chateaugay; many nieces & nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; an infant son, John Cayea Jr.; five brothers, Howard LaPoint Jr., Robert, Phillip, Georgie and William LaPoint; a sister, Barbara Collins; sister-in-law, Lucille Ducharme.
