Richard (dicky) Paul LaPoint

CHASM FALLS — Richard (Dicky) Paul LaPoint, 67, of the Webber Rd, Chasm Falls died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at his home surrounded by his loving family and Hospice of the North Country. Born in Chateaugay, N.Y., on May 4, 1945, he was the son of Bernard and Mildred (Bond) LaPoint. He was married to Holly LaFlesh on May 31, 1997.

Mr. LaPoint attended school in Merrill, N.Y. He was a logger all of his life, working for several companies including Seaway Timber of Massena. He was also employed for Georgia Pacific and Imperial Paper.

He is survived by His wife of 15 years; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Kurt & Valerie LaPoint of Ellenburg, Ricky & Linda LaPoint of Cadyville, James & Penny LaPoint of Ellenburg, Troy & Amy LaPoint of Altona; a stepson, Trevor Damour and his wife Kelly of Colton; a stepdaughter, Candice Dubois and her husband Armond of Constable; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, David & Noreen LaPoint of Merrill; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy & Loney Legault of S.C., Betty & Ronnie Glennon of Altona, Sandy & Leonard Tallman of Ogdensburg; Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a stepson, Kevin Damour; and a sister, Patsy Welch.

Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10. A prayer service will follow at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Looby officiating.
