---- — Farbotko named Skyline Player

of the Week

ALBANY — Former Northeastern Clinton graduate, Matt Farbotko, was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Farbotko led Sage College to a 2-1 week with wins over St. Joseph and previously unbeaten SUNY Old Westbury.

He averaged 21 points-per-game during the week, while shooting 70.4 percent from the floor, 85.7 percent from 3-point range and 82.6 percent from the foul line.

PLATTSBURGH — Saranac’s Abby Cerne was part of the 3,200 relay team with Elysha O’Connell, Alexis Bruno and Lexi Blockson that captured first place in Saturday’s state qualifying meet.

Abby was incorrectly identified as her sister, Brielle, in Sunday’s edition of the Press-Republican.

AC North expanded schedule announced

PLATTSBURGH— The Ameri-Can Sports Center will have expanded ice sessions this week for Stick-N-Puck and Public Skating during the school break.

Stick-N-Puck will be held February 19-21 from 1:30p.m -3p.m and February 24 from 4:30p.m – 5:45 p.m. Public skating will be open February 20-21 from noon-1:30p.m and February 24, from 3:30p.m-4:30p.m.

AC North hosting spring youth hockey

Emmerling tabbed SUNYAC men’s hockey honorees

CORTLAND — Mathieu Cadieux and Kevin Emmerling of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team have been named SUNYAC Goalie and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for the week ending February 17. Both honorees are receiving weekly awards for the third time this season. Cadieux, Emmerling and the rest of the Cardinals will host a semifinal game on Saturday at 7p.m.

Payne SUNYAC Player of the Week

CORTLAND — On Monday, the conference office awarded junior Kathleen Payne with her second SUNYAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award this season. Payne has accumulated 43 points during Plattsburgh State’s 3-0 week and upped her scoring average to 14.2 points per game, which is second best in the conference. She has averaged 14.3 points, six rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 3.3 steals in the past three games. Payne and the Cardinals will begin SUNYAC tournament championship play on Tuesday, when they head to Oneonta to take on the four-seeded Red Dragons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7p.m.

YMCA youth

floor hockey registration open

PLATTSBURGH— Registration for the Plattsburgh YMCA youth floor hockey league for boys and girls in grades K-4 has begun. The program, which starts March 9, will be holding practices and games in the YMCA gym on Saturdays over the course of eight weeks. The program emphasizes fun, safety, and fundamental skills. Each child receives a t-shirt uniform and a trophy, along with an end of the season swim and pizza party also held at the YMCA. A mouth guard is required for all participants. Registration forms can be picked up at the YMCA, 17 Oak Street, or downloaded at www.PlattsburghYMCA.com. Parent volunteers will be needed for this program. For more information call 561-4290.

hockey tournament Feb. 23-24

ROUSES POINT— The opening ceremony of the law enforcement hockey tournament will be held Saturday, February 23 at 9 a.m in Rouses Point. The championship game will be held on Sunday, February 24 at 3 p.m.

Teams will include Customs, Border Patrol, Canadian Customs, Blackpool and Montreal, NYSP, Corrections, and Peacekeepers of Kanawakne.

There will be a raffle and a 50/50 drawing. All proceeds will go to the Camp ta Kum Ta charity.

Ticket information announced for SUNYAC semis

PLATTSBURGH— Season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their seats for the men’s hockey semifinal game Friday, February 22 from 1 p.m-8 p.m at the Field House box office.

Season tickets holders must present photo identification at the time of purchase. Tickets are $6 per person and fans will only be able to purchase their seats. Additional tickets cannot be purchased at that time.

All remaining tickets, including season tickets that are not claimed on Friday, will go on sale to the general public at the Field House box office on Saturday, February 23 at 5:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $6 per person.

All SUNY students from the host or visiting institution will receive free admission with a valid student ID. Student tickets cannot be claimed until the night of the game at the Field House box office, beginning at 5:30p.m.
