Two plastic surgeons join CVPH medical staff

PLATTSBURGH — Ryan Marshall, D.O. (plastic and reconstructive surgery), and Marissa Matarrese, M.D. (plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery) have joined the CVPH medical staff.

They are practicing at Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery Services of CVPH Medical Center, 214 Cornelia St., Suite 103, (562-7771).

Marshall is a graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Mo. He completed a residency in general surgery and fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa.

Matarrese is a graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, Spokane, Wash. She completed two residencies (general surgery and plastic surgery) at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, N.Y. A fellowship in orthopedic hand surgery was completed at the University of Massachusetts, Worcester, Mass.

The opening of Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgery Services of CVPH Medical Center brings to the North Country a wide range of plastic and reconstructive surgery services and for the first time, hand surgery, a press release states.

Adirondack Health welcomes asthma, allergy physician

SARANAC LAKE — Adirondack Health has welcomed Dr. James G. Merrick to the region where he will provide asthma and allergy care to patients of all ages.

Merrick provides care for adults and children with allergies, sinus issues, asthma, allergic skin disease, food allergies, bee sting allergy and children’s respiratory conditions.

After receiving his medical degree from the University of Iowa, Merrick completed formal training there in the specialties of pediatrics, allergy/immunology and pediatric pulmonology. He subsequently became board-certified in all three specialties. He has held faculty appointments at several medical schools and training programs where he has provided education for medical students and doctors in training. He most recently cared for patients at Dean Clinic Allergy in Janesville and Madison, Wis.
