Forum tonight on Common Core, data privacy

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Alliance for Public Education is holding a forum at 5 p.m. today at SUNY Plattsburgh, Sibley Hall, Room 212, to discuss the recent events surrounding the refusal movement aimed at state Common Core exams, data privacy for students and loss of local power in education.

“Many issues in public education are quite controversial at this moment, and parents and community members need to understand what is at stake,” a press release said.

Questions will be welcome from both the media and the community at the forum.

Transportation on Beekmantown School Board agenda

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 6:15 tonight in the auditorium.

Agenda items include presentations on employee recognition, the 2014-15 school calendar and transportation study.

School Board members will be available from 6 to 6:15 p.m. to meet and greet district residents.

Peru School Board continues budget work

PERU — Peru Central School Board will meet at 6 tonight in the community room at the Junior/Senior High School.

At the start of the meeting, the board will vote to go into executive session to discuss the employment history of specific personnel.

The board will reconvene in public session at about 7 p.m.

Agenda items include the 2014-15 budget and proposition and recognition of student clubs and groups.

Board meetings are open to the public.

LAKE PLACID — The Lake Placid Central School Board will meet at 7 tonight in the Board of Education Conference Room, Administrative Services Building, 50 Cummings Road.

Agenda items include personnel matters and a senior-project presentation.

The meeting is open to the public.

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Board will meet tonight in the conference room at the school.
