Holiday Mail for Heroes set
ALBANY — The American Red Cross has kicked off its annual Holiday Mail for Heroes program.
Until Dec. 6, participants can show their gratitude and offer best wishes to those serving in the military, veterans and their families by sending holiday cards.
Red Cross volunteers around the United States and on military installations overseas will sort and deliver the cards throughout the holiday season.
The Red Cross has received and distributed more than 6.5 million cards since the program’s inception in 2006.
To ensure that cards are delivered in time for the holidays, they must be postmarked no later than Dec. 6.
The program handles cards only, the Red Cross said in a news release; they cannot include letters, monetary donations or any other kind of inserts. No glitter is allowed.
Send cards to: Holiday Mail for Heroes, P.O. Box 5456, Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456.
