PLATTSBURGH — A Morrisonville man is facing a number of charges after he allegedly went on a drunken joyride in the City of Plattsburgh.
Plattsburgh City Police say they first spotted Alejandro Torriente, 45, swerving through traffic lanes and speeding near Brinkerhoff Street at about 3:20 p.m Sunday.
After a series of alleged traffic violations, Torriente finally stopped his vehicle on North Catherine Street, where officers reportedly found him to be driving under the influence.
Torriente, who was convicted of a previous drunken-driving offense in January, now faces felony charges of driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
He was also cited for unreasonable speed, driving without insurance, unsafe lane change, improper left turn and failure to keep right.
After being held in City Police lockup Sunday night, Torriente was arraigned Monday morning and released from custody.
He will reappear in City Court later this week to face the allegations.
