Ravilles set Carver Golf Classic record

PLATTSBURGH -- The father and son team of Tom and Chris Raville broke a long-standing record in the Carver Golf Classic held Sunday at the Bluff Point Golf Resort with a blistering net score of 58. It eclipsed the previous record of 61 set in 1994 by Mike Jensen and Wally Roberts.

The Ravilles were 9-under-par scratch with a team handicap of 5 in the tournament, which consisted of 8 holes of scramble, 8 holes of best ball and 2 holes of alternate shot. They out-distanced runners-up Gil Smith and Don Bainbridge by 4 shots (61) while finishing third at 63 were Ray Beebie and Bobby Dergham.

Also finishing in the money in fourth place at 64 were the teams of Dave Huru and Casey Flynn, and Matt Davis and Cary Garcia.

Three skins were awarded -- two to the Ravilles and one to the team of Dustin Beauregard and Sal Mercurio.

The next Carver Event will be the 50th Anniversary Michelob Golf Classic July 19 at Bluff Point. It will be a 2-man full scramble, with team handicaps. For details, email kcflynn11@charter.net, or call 572-7479.
