Litchfield, Hayes top area Tinman finishers
TUPPER LAKE -- Saranac Lake's Kevin Litchfield turned in the fastest time among North Country athletes Sunday in the 26th-Annual Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon.
Litchfield, finishing 36th out of 603 competitors, completed the full Tinman in 4 hours, 56:03 minutes. The event consists of a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride and 13.1-mile run.
Chris Gebhardt of Nyack won by nearly seven minutes with a time of 4:18:38.
Cadyville's Jonathan Parks (40th), Plattsburgh's Jeff Dodge (44), Kevin Bouchard-Hall (69) of Keene and Aidan Bickford (71) of Rainbow Lake all cracked the top 100.
Hayes tops in sprint
Wilmington's Bart Hayes was the fastest among the local competitors in the Sprint, which is half the distances of the Tinman. Hayes came in 26th out of 135 sprinters with a time of 2:13:12.
Mouyau Olivier of Ottawa was the first to finish, but was disqualified for improper equipment. Poughkeepsie's Arthur Boyko moved up to first with a time of 1:56:40 for the six-tenths of a mile swim, 18.6-mile bike leg and 6.2-mile run.
