Road Construction Roundup: July 1, 2008

PLATTSBURGH -- The 2008 road-construction season is under way.

Motorists should be alert to work-zone speed limits. Fines are doubled for speeding in work zones.

Maintenance crews are doing routine maintenance operations, which include tree work, pothole patching, sign work, short-term bridge repairs, bridge washing, sweeping, ditching, mowing and crack sealing.

Drivers are asked to use caution in work zones to protect the occupants of cars and the highway workers.
