TICONDEROGA -- Dan Steitz had two hits and drove in two runs to power Ticonderoga past Moriah, 8-1, in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference baseball action Monday.
Todd Carr and Anthony Barnao each doubled twice for the Sentinels (5-1), who have a showdown with Saranac today.
The Sentinels scored at least one run in every inning except for the first off losing pitcher Tim Martin.
Matt Streeter struck out nine batters, while allowing just three free passes in earning the victory. Tyler Bush tossed a scoreless seventh in relief.
Martin paced the Vikings with two hits and Richard Larmore doubled.
"I think we can do a better job defensively behind our pitchers," Ticonderoga head coach Dan Dorsett said. "(Tim) Martin did a good job keeping us off balance right up until the last inning.
"We are going to have to play better against Saranac."
