PLATTSBURGH -- The Plattsburgh State Athletics Department will announce its Athletes of the Year and Senior Achievement award winners todays at the Senior Recognition and Awards Ceremony in Warren Ballroom A of the Angell College Center on campus.
The candidates in each category are:
Female Senior Achievement
Toni Wiszowaty, cross country/track: 6-time All-American, 4-time SUNYAC Champion, twice NCAA Runner-up in Outdoor 10k
Jaclyn Leitze, softball pitcher: SUNYAC all-time strikeouts leader. Ranks among the top 20 in NCAA Div. III for career. 3-time All-Region
Julie Devereux, hockey defenseman: Co-captain, 2-time All-American. 67 career assists is school record among defenseman.
Lindsey Wilfore, Volleyball Outside Hitter: Team Captain, Active in Community Service Projects
Male Senior Achievement
Anthony Williams, basketball, school's all-time scoring leader (1,734 points). Only two-year All-America in program history
Frank Sangiovanni, lacrosse: school's career record-holder in goals (135) and points (166) and for season (62 goals, 72 pts)
Zack Welch, baseball: 3-time preseason All-America. 2-time All-SUNYAC. ABCA All-Region, ECAC All-Region. College leader in career hits.
Female Athlete of the Year
Junior Danielle Blanchard, hockey.
forward; NCAA III Player of the Year, 3-time All-American, Co-Captain of 2-time national champions.
Lindsey Wilfore, volleyball: Hartwick All-Tournament Team, Academic All-SUNYAC/Commissioner's List, 2.69 kills per game, 3.39 digs per game.
Toni Wiszowaty, cross country/track: NCAA runner-up in cross-country; First Team All-American.
Male Athlete of the Year
Junior John San Filippo, soccer. All-America Second Team; All-SUNYAC First Team. Led NCAA Div. III with 0.19 goals-against average and set a school record with 16 shutouts.
Anthony Williams, basketball: Two-time SUNYAC Player of the Year, CBI All-Star on ESPNU, All-America by four organizations .
