TO THE EDITOR: This is a belated thank you, but my family and I would wish to express our sincere gratitude to the Morrisonville Rescue Squad for their efficient, quick and professional response to my family's call on March 26, 2007, to expedite my quick transfer to the CVPH Emergency Room.
I would like to further extend thanks to the emergency room personnel and the third floor medical staff for the excellent care and service during my stay at CVPH. Thank you.

TO THE EDITOR: I recently read a Letter to the Editor in April 8's newspaper regarding AuSable Valley's production of "Grease."
In the playbill, it specifically stated that the Drama Club or the school didn't support the drug and alcohol references. It stated that it was about choices and learning from your mistakes, and to show the difference between the '50s and now. Honestly, you should have gotten background information on the show beforehand. You should have researched it before coming and learned what it was about.
"Grease" is a classic movie that is still shown on family channels, and those same references are in the movie. The show wasn't meant for children. It was more oriented around adults in the teenagers. If you didn't like the show you should have just gotten up and left, and let it be.
I'm appalled that you would blame the play for your daughter's curiosity about drugs! I can guarantee that she will see way worse on the TV and on the internet! There are even commercials on TV with worse content that "Grease" had. She will probably hear worse in school. I can't even tell you how many times I've been in public and heard teenagers say "What have you been smoking?" or "Are you high?" I'm sorry, but you can't blame just the play for her questions.
The show was also put on to show off the talented students of the North Country. And I must say the acting, singing and dancing was excellent. I think it was one of AuSable's best shows. They blew the North Country away, and I have to congratulate them for all of the late-night rehearsals, and the hard work they put into the show. I couldn't have asked for a better show this year at AuSable.

Democrats spending
TO THE EDITOR: So the Democrat-controlled Congress just passed the largest tax increase in American history -- $683 billion of your money and mine. Strange as it seems, it will not reduce the deficit one penny. It is just an increase in spending.
Spending on what? Remember that the war in Iraq and Afghanistan is not a budget item. "The war" costs the budget zero. This is entirely a budget for continuing congressional earmarks like 200 million bridges to nowhere and grants to Cornell to study why bees pollinate.
The Republicans offered an alternative budget that would have cut your taxes, not increase them. Furthermore, they would have extended permanently your child-care tax credit, eliminated the tax penalty for you being married and provided an additional tax credit to you for either college tuition or fuel expenses or education expenses like private school vouchers and the elimination of the death tax.
The Democrats would have none of this. They believe you should be taxed even after you die. They do not want you to have any increase in child-care tax credits, not even for our inflation index; in fact, they want to take this credit away from you so that they can spend more on Congressional earmarks. The Republicans wanted to eliminate all "earmarks" (translated pork) for one year just to see if Cornell could live without its grants, perhaps and at least will know then which earmarks are really worth. I hope President Bush vetoes this Congressional budget.
In November it will be your turn to vote. Vote for the tax increase. Vote for more spending. Vote Democrat.

&letterheadAbolish abortion
TO THE EDITOR: Explain to me how an organization by the name of Planned Parenthood, who claim they are family-planning health centers, deal in death to unborn babies. Is not this in direct conflict?
The freedom of choice excuse is worn out. We all are born with freedom of choice. It come to us from our Creator as part of our humanness known as free will. We can choose to do whatever. However, among civilized people, there is usually an essential core value or moral guide that leads people to try to make right choices. That is called following our conscience.
Abortion has no social value and is steadily degrading our culture. That a nation such as ours can continue to accept and promote such a barbaric practice is shocking. Great care is taken not to step on the toes of the female gender, so why on earth should it be legal to violate a woman for the purpose of snuffing out the life of her child? What keeps us from admitting that we have gone too far? Maybe vanity and convenience have such a choke hold on our society that we would rather stay in denial of the truth.
My hope is that we as intelligent people could open a dialogue to examine the legality of this hideous practice and restore sanity to our society. Is it not possible that our most valuable resource, our people, will insidiously become endangered? Who will inherit the Earth? Think for a minute. If babies were not allowed to be born, Planned Parenthood would have no organization, nor would there be any families.
Abolish abortion.

&letterheadCandidate supported
TO THE EDITOR: Susan (McNierney) Richards is a candidate for the AuSable Valley Central School (AVCS) Board election to be held on Tuesday, May 20.
Susan grew up in Keeseville and has lived in AuSable Forks since marrying Steve Richards in 1999. She is the clerk to the supervisor and budget officer for the Town of Jay. We have worked together on numerous capital-improvement projects for the betterment of the Town of Jay.
Susan has worked together with the Town Board, myself and Essex County department heads in applying and acquiring over $2 million worth of federal and state grants to improve the quality of life for Jay constituents.
Susan has many strong qualities to be a great AVCS School Board member. She is a highly motivated person with a great work ethic. She is a wonderful people person with excellent communication skills.
She is very fiscally responsible, and with her experience as the Town of Jay's budget officer, she would bring valuable input to the table when working with the School Board, and AVCS staff in creating their annual budget.
She will work hard to enhance our children's learning possibilities, while keeping in mind the taxpayers who are on fixed incomes.
Susan is a leader who is honest, hardworking and dedicated to our children's needs.
In closing, I ask you to join me in casting your vote for Susan Richards on May 20.
