FELONY ARRESTS

NORTH ELBA — A Saranac Lake man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and drunken driving Wednesday.

At 1:48 a.m., State Police pulled over a vehicle driven by Riaval B. Lavair, 23, on Route 86 in the Town of North Elba, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Police arrested him at 2:04 a.m. after they determined he was intoxicated, according to the blotter entry.

Lavair was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or higher and driving while intoxicated with a previous DWI conviction in the past 10 years, all felonies.

Lavair was released on a court appearance ticket, according to the blotter entry.

PLATTSBURGH — A Chazy man was charged with drunken driving Tuesday.

At about 9:15 p.m., State Police stopped a vehicle driven by John P. Woodliff, 38, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Woodliff was arrested 20 minutes later, according to the blotter entry.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated with a previous DWI conviction in the past 10 years, a felony; operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or higher, a misdemeanor; drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on the highway, an infraction; and a highway traffic violation.

Woodliff was released on a court appearance ticket, according to the blotter entry.

PLATTSBURGH — A Catskill, N.Y., man was charged Tuesday with grand larceny after he allegedly stole another man’s wallet.

Stanislav Samolyuk, 19, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Shortly before 11:12 p.m. Sept. 2, a man who had been sitting on a bench near Clinton Community College’s Cumberland Hall, located at 19 Dormitory Road in Plattsburgh,  noticed his wallet was missing out of his pocket.

When he returned to the bench he found Stanislav Samolyuk, 19, sitting where he had been sitting, police said.
