SARANAC — The Beekmantown wrestling team avenged an earlier 3-point loss to Saranac with a 44-30 victory in Champlain Valley Athletic Conference mat action on Wednesday night.
The Eagles put the Chiefs in a hole by winning four of the first five matches and six of the first eight.

Saranac rallied back to within eight points, but Beekmantown sealed it when Zachary Myers won by decision at 152 and then Dylan Peryea by decision at 160.
“Beekmantown wrestled tough and smart, we came out flat and that was the end result,” said Saranac coach Heath Smith. “Give them credit.
“We dug an early hole and they moved some kids around from the first time we wrestled them. We got back to within eight, but lost the last two matches. But those last two matches didn’t lose it for us.”
Cody Laplante (170), Gage Bourdeau (182), Cody Watts (285) and Jon Graziane (126) all recorded pins for the Eagles, while Michael Cartee (106) won by technical fall.
Anthony Cartee won a 4-3 decision at 113 and Brandon Defayette by forfeit at 195 for the Eagles (16-11, 2-4).
Winning by fall for the Chiefs (8-9, 5-2) were Richard Armstrong (120), Austin LaTulip (132) and Will Marcil (138). Paul Herrera (220), John Devins (99) and Codie Gillette (145) won by decision.
It was Senior Night at Saranac, with LaTulip and Hunter Bishop being recognized.
Wednesday’s outcome left first-place Peru (6-0) needing one win in its final two matches to defend its CVAC title.
