Summer

Slugfest

TO THE EDITOR: The Peru Baseball Club recently held the Summer Slugfest to raise money to send our U12 team to Cooperstown Dreams Park.

It was, by all accounts, a fun-filled weekend of great baseball.

We are very thankful to the coaches who brought their teams to celebrate the end of a busy baseball season together: Bill LeBeau, Plattsburgh U12; Craig Amell, Adirondack Thunder U12; Jamie Juntenen, Northern Pirates U12; Kris Doorey, Plattsburgh U10; Jason Marsh, NAB Bulldogs U10; and Dan Iveson, Capital Region Renegades U10.

Many good men volunteered to umpire: Brian Marino, Jonathan Plesiss-Belair, Tristan Archambault, Rich Tarabula, Mark Reyell, Connor Sargeant, Nubby O’Connell, Ken Kesterman, Chris Mazzella, Dom Delello, Jason Kaplan, Rollie McGee, Scott Gavin and Shawn Raimo.

We would like to thank the companies that contributed to our concession stand and T-shirt sales: Adirondack Chocolates, American Legion Post 1619, Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Loreman’s, Peru Pharmacy, Re/Max, R. Tripp Trucking and Excavating, Rulf’s, Peru Stewarts, Valley Vending, Little Pizza Shop and Larry Dupee from Coke. Frank and Mary Martineau were gracious enough to donate a dunk tank.

Our auction was a big hit, and many people left with amazing prizes. Thank you to Buck Supply and Distribution, Colours, Adirondack Chocolates, Koto, Butcher Block, Pizza Hut, Peru McDonalds, Liquor and Wine Warehouse, Play It Again Sports and 31 Products.

A very special thanks to Gabby, Elly and Taylor, who worked tirelessly baking, wrapping and delivering cold drinks and sweet treats for two days. We also extend a heartfelt thank you to Jill Folsom, Karen Fortunatus and Jim Dynko.

Lastly, we offer our sincere gratitude to the parents and grandparents of the children of the Peru Baseball Club. We make a great team.
