MALONE — Nearly 60 foreclosed properties in Franklin County will be auctioned in June.
Manufactured homes, vacant agricultural land, single-family homes and detached-row buildings are included in the 57 parcels up for sale, said County Treasurer Bryon Varin.
The auction is set for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, at Mo’s Pub and Grill in Malone.
Parcel information will be posted and the auction link activated on Sunday, May 26, by Haroff Auction and Realty Inc. at its own site at www.harofflivebids.com and at www.nysauctions.com.
The schedule for viewing the properties in person will be released shortly, Varin said.
Clinton County is having a similar land auction on more than 70 properties at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the West Side Ballroom, 253 York Road, Plattsburgh.

Franklin County’s sale will include seven properties in the Town of Waverly, six in the Town of Malone and five each in the Village of Malone and Town of Constable.
Also among the properties taken for back taxes are parcels in the Village of Tupper Lake (four); the Village of Saranac Lake (two), and the Village of Moira (one); and the towns of Tupper Lake (one); Bangor (four); Bombay (two); Brandon (three); Brighton (two); Burke (two); Dickinson (two); Duane (one); Fort Covington (one); Harrietstown (one); Moira (four); Santa Clara (one); and Westville (two).
The lien total on all the properties is $405,396, and their combined assessed value is $2.29 million, according to Varin.
In other action that involves future foreclosed properties across New York, Franklin County legislators recently passed a resolution in support of two bills pending in the State Assembly.
A88 would require the lenders to provide the municipality’s financial officer contact information, including the telephone number and name of an employee or representative responsible for maintenance of the property. That information is also to be posted at the property itself.
A824 would require the banks to maintain a property in the midst of foreclosure “in good faith” until the closing occurs or the deed is recorded.
In its resolution, the county said the number of vacant buildings and those that have been foreclosed upon or abandoned has increased dramatically over the last five years and that they drive down neighboring property values.
But mortgage holders are not currently required to provide any information about their clients to municipalities or other authorities.
