FELONY ARRESTS

MALONE — A Mexican citizen is being held in Franklin County Jail on $100,000 bail after being indicted for allegedly having someone else’s identification documents.

Francisco Carbajal, 35, who had been living in Lowville, pleaded not guilty to a grand-jury indictment Monday that charged him with failure to signal and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He was reportedly pulled over by police in the Village of Tupper Lake on Jan. 8 and allegedly produced a Social Security card and a permanent-resident card that belonged to someone else, according to the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office. 

Carbajal also allegedly had $15,000 in cash on him when he was stopped.

He was arraigned before Franklin County Court Judge Robert G. Main Jr. and sent back to County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 insurance bond.

His next court date is a conference scheduled for July 25.

Carbajal, whose defense attorney is Peter Dumas of Malone, has been in custody since his arrest in January.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle Wednesday.

At about 2:32 a.m., Steven C. Denegar, 28, was pulled over on Miller Street in the City of Plattsburgh by Plattsburgh-based State Police, according to a State Police blotter entry.

When Denegar was found to be intoxicated, he was arrested at 2:48 a.m.

He was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony; first offense DWI, a misdemeanor; first offense of operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .08, a misdemeanor; failure to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of an address change, an infraction; improper left turn on a two-way road, an infraction, and inadequate mirrors, an infraction.

Denegar was arraigned and sent to Clinton County Jail where he remained Wednesday evening.

CHAZY — An Altona man was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and felony drunken driving July 8.

At about 6:12 p.m., Leroy L. Towsley, 45, was pulled over by Chazy-based State Police on Miner Farm Road west of State Route 22, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Towsley was placed under arrest a few minutes later and was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony; driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction in the past ten years, a felony, and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content of .08, a felony due to the prior conviction.

Towsley was arraigned and sent to Clinton County Jail where he remained Wednesday evening.

ALTONA — An Ellenburg Depot man was charged with aggravated drunken driving July 4.

At about 1:52 p.m., Steven M. Dubray, 58, was pulled over by Ellenburg-based State Police on Alder Bend Road in the Town of Altona, according to a State Police blotter entry.

At 2:14 p.m. Dubray was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI with a prior conviction, a felony; driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor; moving from a lane unsafely, an infraction, and imprudent speed, an infraction.

Dubray was released on his own recognizance to appear in court at a later date, according to the blotter entry.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged with criminal mischief July 4.

Plattsburgh City Police received a call from a third party who had received a call from a family member of William Deso, 27, reporting that Deso was “destroying the interior” of his mother’s home, said Plattsburgh City Police Lt. Scott Beebie.

When Officers arrived, they found Deso locked in the bathroom, Beebie said.

The damage to the home included broken windows, damaged furniture, a large hold in a door and a door off it’s hinges, he said.

Deso had also allegedly removed an air conditioning unit from a window and put it in the yard, Beebie said.

The damage totaled $3,500, he said.

Deso was arrested on Maryland Road in the City of Plattsburgh and was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony.

He was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and sent to Clinton County Jail without bail, Beebie said.
