Adams Glass rolls past Norfolk

PERU — It didn’t take long for the Adams Glass Senior Babe Ruth team to put the game away Wednesday.

The club scored 12 runs in the first inning against Norfolk Post 925. Adams Glass didn’t score again the rest of the game, but its first-inning outburst was more than enough offense as it won 12-4.

“We continued to hit the ball and put it in play,” Adams Glass assistant coach Jim Reid said. “We had some line shots; everything just went right to them. We just couldn’t manufacture any more runs.”

Adams Glass (2-3) had just three hits in its big opening inning, and the first one came from the 10th batter. There were seven walks, a groundout and an error before that.

Kevin Sousa led the team with two hits and an RBI, and Michael Danis also had two hits. Nick Uliva and Nick Demarais both drove in a run. Adams Glass totaled seven hits.

Luis Pepen-Matos pitched the whole game for the local team, striking out eight, walking none and scattering eight hits.

“He pitched a good game,” Reid said. “He pitched very well.”

Isaiah Dillabough took the loss for Norfolk.

Adams Glass is off until June 25.
