MALONE — A Saranac Lake man was arrested April 9 for alleged jail contraband possession while he was being booked at the Franklin County Jail.
Officers found Kasey D. Michael, 25, with two pill capsules, one in his mouth and one hidden in his clothing, Malone-based State Police said.
Michael was charged with first-degree possession of dangerous prison contraband, a felony; second-degree possession of prison contraband, a misdemeanor; seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
He was arraigned in Bangor Town Court and is scheduled to appear in Malone Town Court at 1 p.m. on April 16, police said.
Michael was sent back to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
CONSTABLE — A Fort Covington woman was injured in a one-car accident April 9.
Shortly before 9:20 a.m., Kurstin A. Peryer, 19, was traveling westbound on State Route 122 near Dumas Road in the Town of Constable when she allegedly fell asleep, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway via the north shoulder, Malone-based State Police said.
Peryer’s car struck a sign and a culvert before coming to rest in a ditch, police said.
She was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center for treatment and no tickets were issued, police said.
