CHAMPLAIN — A Plattsburgh man died after he suffered a medical condition caused him to drive his car off the road.

On Tuesday morning, Francis P. Parish, 68, of Plattsburgh drove a 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan off Prospect Road in Champlain and struck a tree, Chazy-based State Police said.

Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the site of the accident at about 11:41 a.m.

Parish was the only occupant of the vehicle, police said.

The exact cause of Parish’s death was unclear Wednesday night but an autopsy is scheduled for today, police said.


TUPPER LAKE — An employee of the Sunmount Office for People with Developmental Disabilities has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly collecting unemployment benefits illegally.

Glenn J. Strack, 45, of Bloomingdale was arrested by Tupper Lake-based State Police on Tuesday and was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony.

State Police said in a news release that between January and April of 2013, Strack collected $2,247 in unemployment benefits while employed at the state-run facility.

A State Police blotter entry shows police received a report regarding Strack’s case on Oct. 10.

He was arrested at the Tupper Lake State Police barracks, according to the blotter entry, and was released on a court appearance ticket.

Strack’s case will be handled in Tupper Lake Village Court, according to the Tupper Lake Town Court.

The status of his case was not available Wednesday.
