---- — Lake Champlain Lakers holding sign-ups Sunday

PLATTSBURGH — The Lake Champlain Lakers will be holding sign-ups for their AAU basketball program Sunday at the OLVA gymnasium from 2-4 p.m.

The Laker program runs from March through the end of June. This year’s program will begin with a camp format starting the weekend of March 16 and continue with the travel portion from May-June.

All interested boys and girls ages 8-17 can sign-up at this time. For any questions, contact Larry Converse at 569-7431, or visit lclakers.org.

 

Hunter education class set for March 22-23

SCHROON LAKE — A hunter education class will be held on March 22 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and March 23 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.

If you are attending Saturday’s class you are advised to bring a lunch. If you would like to sign up, call Bruce at 585-9194 or Tom at 585-7859.

 

Week 5 results for rifle league

PLATTSBURGH — The Rough Riders of the Plattsburgh Rod and Gun Club came in second place during week five of its VT Winter Postal League.

The team’s top shooter is Peter Visconti who has a league average of 395.2, which is second best in the league. Andrew Visconti of the Junior Rough Riders is the top junior shooter in the league with a 384.6 average.

Beekmantown holding wrestling tournament

BEEKMANTOWN — The 23rd annual Beekmantown Pee Wee Wrestling Tournament will be held Saturday, March 2.

Weigh-ins will be from 8–9 a.m. for children 17 years-old and younger. Wrestlers will be divided into separate age groups.

Cost will be $20 per wrestler. Children high school aged must be in high school.

 

Rouses Point holding summer program sign-ups

ROUSES POINT — The Town of Champlain, along with the Villages of Rouses Point and Champlain are distributing sign-up forms for summer programs at Rouses Point Elementary, Mooers Elementary, the Dodge Memorial Library and the Children’s Learning Center.

Forms are due back to school by Monday, March 4. Swimming forms will be sent out at a later date. Please make sure to sign the waiver form, which is located on the back of the sign-up form. You will also be asked to supply the Youth Commission with your child’s birth certificate.

Moriah Fire Department hosting 9-pin tourney

MINEVILLE — The Moriah Fire Department will host a doubles nine-pin tournament at the Mineville VFW Lanes on Sunday, March 3. Two shifts will be available at noon and 3 p.m.

Cost is $40 per team and prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. All proceeds will go towards fire prevention efforts.

Call the lanes at 942-3344 to sign up. Entries will be accepted until the scheduled start times of each shift.

 

Miners holding fishing derby March 2

LYON MOUNTAIN — The Lyon Mountain Miners are holding their 3rd Annual Fishing Derby March 2.

Tickets, which are $20 apiece, can be purchased at the Lyon Mountain American Legion or Martin’s Bait & Tackle.
