Rabideau's goal rescues Chazy against NAC

CHAZY — Chazy, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class D, received a scare from Northern Adirondack Wednesday.

Alex Rabideau, though, scored with 4:29 left in the first half to give the Eagles a 1-0 victory in boys’ Northern Soccer League action.

Chazy led the way in shots, outshooting the Bobcats 19-3 in the game. But, the Eagles had a difficult time getting one past Northern Adirondack’s Ethan King.

The netminder made 15 saves on the night.

“We had a strong game from Alex Rabideau,” Chazy coach Rob McAuliffe said. “Ethan King made some outstanding saves in goal for NAC.”

Rabideau broke the scoreless tie at the 35:31 mark of the first half with Zach Brothers collecting the assist.

Austin Gravelle (2) and Trent Blais (1) stopped all three shots the Eagles faced.

WILLSBORO — Caleb Denton was able to get past the Warrior defense and sneak one into the back of the net to lift the Lions to victory in overtime.

Will Tomkins gave Elizabethtown-Lewis a lead at the 5:49 mark of the first half with Joel Morris collecting the assist.

The lead stood until Seth Swires connected at 10:27 of the second half, which forced overtime.

Austin Morris sent a pass from the top of the box in to Denton, who got past the defense and sent one into the back of the net capture the victory.

“It was Senior Day and Seth Swires, Nick Arnold and Jarrid McVicker played with great effort and attitude,” Willsboro coach Andrew Lee said. “I liked my team’s effort and competitive drive (Wednesday). We have been missing that lately and I think this was a good game for us, even though the outcome didn’t go our way.”
