“They had no answer for Keegan,” Beekmantown coach Ryan Converse said. “He was tough tonight.”
Justin Stevens chipped in eight points for the Eagles.
Tom Bedard paced the Cougars with 11 points, while Austin Tetreault and Harley Tavernia had 10 apiece.
The Eagles got off to a good start with a 19-8 lead after one quarter, but Northeastern Clinton cut it to 29-23 at the half and 39-36 after three.
“We came out and played with great intensity in the first quarter,” Converse said. “Especially defensively.
“In the middle two quarters, we weren’t as aggressive defensively and, on the flip side, we weren’t able to convert as much offensively. They got it back to within one point in the third.”
But Beekmantown hung tough in the fourth, despite having some problems from the foul line.
“We played better defensively in the fourth quarter,” Converse said. “We missed five free throws, however, and we could have put it away.
“Still, it was a good team effort and a big win for us at this point of the season. I was proud of the guys.”
