13-year-old, mother's boyfriend arrested in domestic dispute

BEEKMANTOWN — A 13-year-old and his mother’s boyfriend were arrested following a recent domestic dispute.

Thomas E. Frenyea, 40, of West Chazy allegedly slapped his girlfriend’s face and pulled her hair while her two sons, ages 13 and 16, watched, Plattsburgh-based State Police said.

The Feb. 12 incident happened at a residence at 5 Kelley Road in Beekmantown and was reported to police at 7:19 p.m. by a friend of Frenyea’s girlfriend, police said.

The two boys, authorities said, are not related to Frenyea.

A short time after the incident, the 13-year-old allegedly struck Frenyea in the head with a frying pan, police said; the man suffered minor cuts to his head but refused medical attention.

The 13-year-old was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use, a misdemeanor.

He was released on an appearance ticket for Family Court, police said.

Frenyea was charged with third-degree assault with intent to cause physical injury, a misdemeanor, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in Dannemora Town Court and was released on his own recognizance to appear in Beekmantown Town Court on Feb. 20, police said.

Frenyea’s case was then adjourned until March 20, according to the Beekmantown Town Court.
