WPTZ parent company, DISH reach pact

PLATTSBURGH — DISH Network will soon carry WPTZ channel 5 and WNNE-TV channel 31 again.

At 10 p.m. Tuesday, negotiations on a new carriage agreement between parent company Hearst Television Inc. and DISH Network LLC reached an impasse, and those channels were dropped.

But an agreement was reached early Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release from WPTZ, which would soon lead to restoration of broadcasting.

The previous carriage agreement expired on March 1, the release said, but Hearst gave a number of extensions that allowed continued service during the protracted negotiations, WPTZ said, “to avoid a potential disruption of service and inconvenience to subscribers.”
