Pauline C. (Dimakis) Chappell

TICONDEROGA — Pauline C. (Dimakis) Chappell, 79, of Ticonderoga and Haines City, Fla., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at her residence.

Born in Ticonderoga, Sept. 13, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Young) Dimakis.

Mrs. Chappell was a graduate of Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1952 and SUNY Cortland, where she received her teaching degree. She also completed continuing education at SUNY Plattsburgh.

She was a resident of Ticonderoga for most of her life, and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Cross of Ticonderoga.

Pauline began her teaching career in 1956. She taught at Moriah Central School for many years, prior to her retirement in 1990.

She was a member of the NYS Retired Teachers' Association, the American Association of University Women, and the Business & Professional Women. She served as President of the local Moriah Teachers' Association and was a past member of the Board of Directors of the Ticonderoga Country Club.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Sherman A. Chappell on Nov. 24, 1997. She was also pre-deceased by one granddaughter, Deidra Chappell in 2002.

Survivors include her two sons, Michael J. Chappell of Plattsburgh and Gregg S. Chappell and his wife Lara of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Donovan Chappell, Hope Chappell and Faith Chappell; two sisters, Rosemary Dahl of Webster, N.Y., and Demetria Woodard of Texas; and one brother, James Dimakis of Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Betty Roberts and her husband Alonzo of Moriah, Joan Trombly of Moriah and Shirley Guynup of Mineville; and her brother-in-law, Alfred Rule of Mineville; and several nieces and nephews.

A Private Graveside Service will take place at the convenience of the family.
